To enable Clients to discover the UAFX Server, Controllers shall support an mDNS responder and include the defined UAFX capability in its mDNS announcements and responses as defined in OPC 1000012. Controllers are required to support a minimal mDNS responder and include the defined UAFX capability in its mDNS announcements and responses.

Note This capability is different from the HostName resolution capability described in 5.3.

In discovering UAFX servers, clients may either use mDNS directly or use the local discovery server-multicast extension (mDNS-ME), as described in OPC 1000012.
